Pastor Jim's Chatterbox

Part 3

Some people will say He is a special invisible friend.

Some will say He is the brightest star in the sky.

Some will say He is mysterious.

Some will say He is your brother.

Well let me tell you, He is all that and much much more.

I can honestly tell you Jesus is the one who makes all your wishes come true.  He is the one who comforts you at night when the shadows become scary and Mommy and Daddy are sound asleep.  He is the one who whispers quietly in your mind to stop when you are about to cross the road without looking.  He is the one who will walk quietly and invisibly next to you when you are sad and lonely.  He is the one who give you and your Mommy and Daddy hope for things needed and wanted.

We will be looking at a simple word that will be a HUGE thing in your life, and that is

"HOPE"

The bible tells us that we are saved by hope.  Sounds funny doesn't it.  How can we be saved by hope?  Can you think of any way we can be saved by hope?  Jesus gives us hope for a good life.  He gives us hope that we can succeed in all that we do or try to do.  Jesus saves us with hope by giving us hope. If we didn't have hope, how would we be able to achieve the things we once thought were impossible.  Like when we got our first bike.  Didn't you wish (hope) for a bike.  I bet when you got your first bike you didn't know how to ride it and you were probably scared you would fall off when the trainer wheels came off.  When you wished for that bike, you had hope that you would get it.  Then when you got it you had hope that you could ride it.

It is the same when you started school.  Mommy and Daddy hope that you will succeed in your years at school.  They hope that they can be as helpful to you as they can in your schooling.  Not only that I bet if you ask Mommy and Daddy they would tell you that they hoped you would make good friends and would be happy at school.  Hope comes in a lot of different ways.  We hope we can go to see a movie.  We hope that a person we love who is sick will get better soon.  We hope that the tornado will go past us and not hit our home or the homes of our friends and neighbours.

So we now know that we hope for a lot of things.  Both kids and Moms and Dads hope for something everyday.  So how do things come to be just by hoping?  That's simple.  Jesus gives us hope in our daily life.  He hears our prayers and our wishes as we blow out those candles on our birthday cake.  Wishing for something is just like hoping for something.  We pray, we hope, we wish and Jesus makes it happen in His time.  We may hope for something, but Jesus will not let us have it if it is not right for us or if we are not ready for what we hope for.  But if He thinks we do need it or are ready for it, Jesus will make sure we have it in time.  You see when we hope for something in Jesus' name, we have to also have faith that Jesus will provide whatever we hope for.  Hope in Jesus will only work if we have real faith in Him.

There is a story in the bible about Jesus and his disciples who had five loaves of bread and two fish to Jesus.  Jesus fed thousands of people with these.  Hard to believe eh? The little boy had hope and faith in Jesus that his very small offering would feed so many people.  Just as Jesus had faith and hope in God that He would be able to feed all these people with the five loaves of bread and two fishes.  When your Mom and Dad have some time ask them to read Matthew 14:13-21 and Matthew 15:32-38  These are two stories about Jesus feeding a lot of people with a very small amount of food.

We must have hope in Jesus that we will have a good and happy life.  Having hope doesn't always mean to hope to get something.  Having hope in Jesus is to have hope that Jesus will save you from harm, from the devil and anything really really bad.  Hope in Jesus mean life, happiness and joy.  There is nothing better than hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.  He is our saviour, our provider, our best of best friends.  Hope in Jesus is Love, caring, acceptance.  We always hope that our friends will be nice to us and stick up for us when things get scary.  Our hope in Jesus is no different only a lot better.  Hope in Jesus can open more doors than any person could ever open for you.  Hope in Jesus is a future worth living.  Without hope in Jesus we are nothing and will never achieve all we could achieve.

Doors can't open unless there is someone there to open them, right?  Well yes it is in a way, but there are other doors that you can't see that can open for you in life too.  Special doors.  Knocking doesn't always mean to bang your fist on something.  You can knock on someone's heart asking for their love and acceptance.  You can knock on hearts by being a very polite and nice person, by being helpful and caring and giving your love to them without asking for anything in return.  If you can give love, caring and kindness, you are knocking on that persons heart.  Jesus will makes sure that person's heart opens to you and you receive their love in return.  You can knock on Jesus' heart simply by saying, "Jesus I believe in you,  I want you beside me in my life."

The biggest and best thing you can ask for is Jesus.  The best thing to look for is Jesus.  The greatest heart in the universe to knock on is Jesus' heart.  All you have to do to achieve His answer is to Believe, be kind and generous to others, to have hope in Jesus and make sure you read your bible and talk to Jesus.  Not much to ask for is it?

In return you will have the the best teacher, the best listener, best friend you could ask for in Him, and more love than you could imagine possible.

Before you go to bed be sure to say your prayers, and ask Jesus to be part of your life.
