Pastor Jim's Chatterbox Part 2
Some people will say He is a special invisible friend. Some will say He is the brightest star in the sky. Some will say He is mysterious. Some will say He is your brother. Well let me tell you, He is all that and much much more. I can honestly tell you Jesus is the one who we can trust to listen when we talk to Him. He is the one who comforts you at night when the shadows become scary and Mommy and Daddy are sound asleep. He is the one who whispers quietly in your mind to stop when you are about to cross the road without looking. He is the one who will walk quietly and invisibly next to you when you are sad and lonely. He is the one who answers all your special needs when we call on Him in our prayers. We will be looking at a simple word that will be a HUGE thing in your life, and that is "Care" Care and Caring is very important in life. I guess you have heard this before, "I don't care!". I wouldn't mind betting you have said it many times yourself. Is it true? It would be a very sad and angry world if nobody cared about something or someone. Jesus cares about everyone and takes care of everything, and you know why He does? It is because He loves you. Caring is a big thing when you really get to think about it. Let's see what and who we really do care about shall we. Do we care about our Mom and Dad? Do we Care about our Pets? Do we care about our favourite toys? Do we care about our bike? Do we care about our friends? I think the answer to all of these is yes. Ok so we do care for a lot of things. So if we care so much why do we say, "I don't care" or "I don't want too" when Mom asks us to help her out a little bit. Or, "go away I don't like you", or why do we tease other people and be mean. These don't sound very caring do they. What would it be like if Jesus spoke and behaved like that to us. OUCH!! Not good huh?
Caring
doesn't just mean Mom and Dad and the special people in our lives or our
special toys. Caring means everything and everyone. It says
in the bible that Jesus loves everyone. So why can't we? It
also says in the bible to love your enemy. So why can't we?
Another thing it says in the bible is "Do to others what you would
want them do to you". Hmmm interesting huh? One of the
most important things it says in the bible is to Caring is important. If someone is mean to you, you care, just like they care when you are mean to them. By not doing as your parents ask is being mean and not really caring for them. If you are busy doing something, why not say "Mom would you mind if I finish this first?" and say it nicely. I am sure she would appreciate that more than hearing you saying "I can't Mom I am busy" If you don't feel like doing what she asks, just think of all the things she has to do for you, even if she doesn't feel like doing it or is not feeling well. But she still does it without complaining. She does it because she cares about you and your family. She loves you, so she does it. If you ask her I am sure she will say, "I do it because I love you!" It is the same with Dad, he has to go to work to earn money to feed and cloth you and so you can play your sports and do all the things you enjoy. I bet he doesn't feel like doing that either sometimes, but he does. If you ask him why he does I bet he will say "because I care about what our family has to eat and be able to go places and do things together." Now would someone do all that if they didn't care? I don't think so.
Obedience is caring. No matter how you look at it. So care about your parents and do as they ask and try not to complain to much ok. And when someone you don't particularly like comes and asks to play with you and your friends. Be nice and say "sure, come and join in" You never know they may be special friends Jesus has sent to you and could be the best friend you could have in your life. Care about people and be nice and friendly towards them. Don't go doing or saying things to them that you know you wouldn't like them to say or do to you. If you can follow this I bet you will be the happiest person around. If someone is mean to you, surprise them and say "I am sorry, but I still love you. and walk away." then look back and see the shocked look on their faces. In time I would say they will end up either leaving you alone or become you friend.
I know when I am mean to someone I feel very sad inside after, I bet you do too. When I am nice and happy and friendly I feel it. I prefer to be happy than sad. the best part about caring for others and being nice, is I know Jesus is smiling on me. It is when He is smiling on me that nothing can go wrong. Yet when I am mean and sad and angry, everything goes wrong and no one likes me. Millions, no BILLIONS of people love Jesus and are nice and happy. You will see these people in the street. They are the people who are always there to help you when you need it. People who care about others more than they care about themselves, are the happy people. Those who cares more about themselves and does nothing for others are sad lonely people. You know I love Jesus, because He loves me and cares for me. I love you too even though I don't know you. I love you because you are a member Jesus' family. Smile today and do a good deed for someone. Then feel that warm fuzzy feeling you get when Jesus is smiling on you. It is the best feeling.
The biggest and best thing is the love Jesus gives us. The best thing to know is Jesus cares for us. The greatest heart in the universe is Jesus' heart. All you have to do to be like Jesus is to be, kind and generous to others and make sure you read your bible and talk to Jesus. Not much to ask for is it?
In return you will have the the best teacher, the best listener, best friend you could ask for in Him, and more love than you could imagine possible. And a joy that is so good it is impossible to say in words, but leaves you feeling warm and very happy. Before you go to bed be sure to say your prayers, and ask Jesus to be part of your life.
