| O God, thou art my God; early will I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. Psalm 63:1 |
|
| The key word here is 'early'.
There have been many teachings on this word concerning prayer. The misconception is that
we should get up very early in the morning and start our day in prayer. That is fine for
those who work five days a week and are on steady days. The real meaning to this word
early is to begin prayer as soon as there is a hint of trouble or when we have discerned
the Spirit's prompting. Start now, right away that is what early really means. Also there are two other key words in this nugget. They are, 'thirsts' and 'longs'. Notice it is the soul that thirsts and the flesh that longs. Yes I know you may have a hard time with getting into prayer, but you must start early (now). When you start now you begin communicating with your God. If you are diligent, you will thirst and long for Him, because you will want more of Him, as you experience him. But the word is diligence. Daniel was a diligent seeker and also was fervent in prayer. He went before God in prayer three times a day. He also had many wonderful experiences with God through his prayer life. Email me and express your feelings and insight on this scripture. Let's bible study together. Our next verse will be here next week. |
